Restorative Yoga at Regenerate Fitness is the Upper East Side’s most refreshing, restoring and renewing yoga class. Taught by Stephanie Gilbert, an experienced yogi with over a decade of practice across multiple yoga styles, our Restorative Yoga class is the perfect way to disconnect from the fast pace and stressfulness of New York City.
Sometimes referred to as active relaxation, Restorative Yoga is a healing and recuperative yoga practice that relies on the use of props (bolsters, pillows, blankets, chairs, straps, and blocks) and the prolonged holding of a few simple poses. First developed within the school of B.K.S. Iyengar in India, it’s a great option for people who find the more popular yoga styles too dynamic or physically strenuous. Our intimate training studio and small classes are perfect for those who like a more personal experience.
The deep relaxation offered by Restorative Yoga provides multiple mental and physical benefits. These include reducing anxiety, calming of the nervous system, enhancing the immune system, optimizing energy flow to the organs, mindfulness, increased flexibility, pain reduction, and weight loss. Additionally, because of its slow tempo, our Restorative Yoga class is a great way to introduce your mind and body to the practice of meditation.
